Alani Ramas is an interdisciplinary artist from New England whose practice explores the relationship between humans and the natural world. Born in New Hampshire, she attended the University of Connecticut and received her B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. There, she gained an appreciation for the billions of years Earth has been spinning, the context of humans, and events that have led us to today. She would combine her love and passion for the environment and drawing through obtaining her Post Baccalaureate certificate at the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2023. Since attending school in Boston, she has remained working in the city and is a member of the Shepherd & Maudsleigh Print Studio. Being from the Northeast, Alani has always immersed herself in nature; living in New England has allowed her to explore all the greenery surrounding her. Alani also works at New Hampshire’s Department of Environmental Services in their Wetland Bureau, helping protect these sensitive communities. Her passion for preserving the environment has driven her to pursue ecology and convey her findings through art. In her work, she communicates a collective call for action to viewers and explores the power of visual language.
Alani has exhibited her work throughout New England. She has had work on display at the University of Connecticut's Benton Museum, the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, and local galleries between Boston, Massachusettes, and Concord, New Hampshire. This summer, she held her recent solo show at the Massachusettes Audubon Nature Center at Magazine Park in Cambridge.
